I grew up in the Portland area and pursued an interest in science and technology at Azusa Pacific University while competing in soccer and track & field. That combination led me to teaching sciences, technology and coaching at Beaverton HS. I enjoy teaching skills and knowledge that I know will be useful to students in their future.
I am a native Oregonian artist and educator. I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Pacific Northwest College of Art. I worked as a professional artist for several years, before being invited to teach a temporary mural painting class Hillsboro High School in 2009. Working with high school students inspired me to earn my Master’s Degree in Teaching at Pacific University. I am passionate about guiding students to discover their own unique voice, hone creative problem-solving skills, and develop confidence in their own powers of innovation.
I grew up in Estacada, by Mt. Hood and started my teaching career as a snowboard instructor in college. I started working at Beaverton High in 2014 after working in the corporate environment. My path took me into teaching as a result of the passion I have for helping young adults grow and develop their skill sets. I teach photography, computer graphics and video editing. I am married and have a son and two goofy dogs.
I went to high school in the Beaverton School District and worked in the private sector before pursuing my passion for teaching. I went to the University of Oregon to complete my undergraduate degree. In the private sector, I worked at DC Comics, GiantRealm, Fred Meyer's Corporate office and Aquent, a staffing firm placing people at companies like Nike and adidas. When I made the change, I received my Master's at Oregon State University. It's my personal and professional desire to ensure all students are college/career ready. I enjoy teaching and love working with students to help them reach their full potential.
